We reflect our conception of God to the world by the way we live. When the world presses down on us, what will spill out? Will our old nature raise its rough head? Will Jesus living in us speak the Words of Scripture? We must practice living the regenerate life that God has placed within our hearts.

If we want to live fit for the fulfillment of the kingdom of God, we must learn to hunger for the Word of God. We must seek Him in private prayer. We must learn to call out to Him as one would beg for bread. We must take down the social masks of self righteousness and cling only to the righteousness of God. We must learn to take and eat of His righteousness.

Jesus had power under control. Gentleness is the result of self discipline. Each and every moment of the day must be brought under the strict discipline of Jesus. We can apply this discipline of gentleness to our condition because Jesus took it upon Himself and fulfilled it perfectly.

This is in essence what we praise when we echo David’s glad temple prayer. We want God to rule in all of our hearts alone. We are asking for Jesus to make His existence known through our bodies as He was known during His time among us on earth. We are asking for Jesus to make His existence known through our bodies as He will be known in eternity.

This witness of heartfelt reliance on God for deliverance is a witness to the world. The kingdom of God is so real when the outside world sees men and women pray for God’s guidance past and through evil by His supernatural arm of deliverance. We tap into the strength of Someone greater than ourselves, and that is completely counter to everything the world stands for.
